Why use AliExpress? If you are not familiar with AliExpress, it is a retail platform made up of small businesses primarily from China.

Many dropshippers use AliExpress as their supplier because the prices are so low, that they can mark them up many times and still provide a great deal to their customers.

The merchants that sell on AliExpress are accustomed to dropshipping. Many of them do not ship items with any marketing materials whatsoever.

However, if you want to contact specific merchants and let them know that you are a dropshipper, you have the option to do so.

Choosing a Niche

One of your next and very important steps is to choose a niche for your dropship store. You likely already have an idea of what products you want to sell.

If not, there are ways to help pick a niche for your dropshipping store. One of the easiest ways is to choose a niche that you have a genuine interest in.

The reason is that you will likely be more enthusiastic about selling them. However, you can also find trends or do some market research of your own to find niche products to sell.

Another option is to browse AliExpress itself and generate ideas. There are tons of categories and you’re sure to find a niche you like.

Your final step is to choose an eCommerce platform for your dropship store. While there are numerous ones to choose from, there are two that I’ve used for dropshipping purposes.

I used Shopify’s 14-day free trial to set up a dropship store. In order to import products from AliExpress, I had to use the Oberlo app which is exclusive to Shopify.

Oberlo allows you to import products from AliExpress into your Shopify store. Shopify and Oberlo work very well together.

One of the reasons I didn’t stay with Shopify was because of the monthly fees. Shopify’s basic plan starts at $29 a month.

While that isn’t super expensive, you must also take into account the fees associated with various apps that you may want to use.

Oberlo is essential for building a dropship store using AliExpress. Only the first 50 orders per month are free.

After that, the lowest Oberlo plan starts at $29.90. As you may notice, that’s $60 a month in fees to use Shopify and Oberlo.

This doesn’t include the other apps you may want to help streamline your store. A lot of Shopify apps cost money.

Save Money Using the AliDroship Plugin

One of the many benefits of using AliDropship vs Shopify is that there are no monthly fees to pay to use AliDropship.

You only pay a one-time fee for the plugin or a custom webstore.

Both Shopify and AliDropship are great platforms for creating your own dropship store using AliExpress.

Another thing that you may want to consider before choosing Shopify or other eCommerce platforms other than AliDropship is having 100% ownership.

A huge advantage of the AliDropship plugin is that you always retain 100% ownershp of your store.

For example, if you ever wanted to move your Shopify store for any reason, you wouldn’t be able to take it with you.

The only thing you could do is to download a spreadsheet of your products. Since AliDropship is a WordPress plugin, your store is completely yours from the start.
